Once limited to tables in land casinos, poker has become a major force in the
online gambling industry by offering players traditional table poker games such
as five card stud and draw poker as well as casino styled video poker machines.
Interestingly, unlike most casino games, video poker was developed specifically
for use in casinos.
Playing online video poker is very similar to live draw poker. A player makes a
bet and is dealt five cards. The machine automatically sounds if a paying
hand has been dealt. However, a player can choose to discard cards to be
replaced by new cards from the deck. If the new hand holds a winning
combination, the machine will pay-out in coins if played at a casino or credits
if playing online.
One of the main draws of casino or online video poker is the fact that the game
is very fast-moving and players are required to make quick and calculated
decisions, adding to the excitement. Experienced video poker players tend to
develop their skills for the long-term pay-outs unlike novice players who rely
on luck and a certain amount of risk for the short-term win.
The good news is that certain video poker games boast a long term pay-out
potential of 100%. This means, assuming you are dealt cards with the highest
pay-out values, over time you can you expect to win your money back, assuming
you haven't already broken the casino's bank by then of course!
